Discover Archery

A few weeks ago at cubs, two people from Discover Archery came to visit.  We learned how to do archery.  We did some different tests such as shooting arrows into goals, shooting at discs and into bins.  Each activity was worth points and at the end they said that because I got the most points I was the winner.  My prize was the Cub of the Week trophy which I have already had before.  I even beat yr6s at archery and I am only yr3!

My Junior Parkrun Reward

I have done 11 junior parkruns which equals a half marathon distance.  I was presented with a special wristband.  My sister got hers too. Junior parkrun is 2k and my pb is 10.25.  I have also recently done an adult parkrun with daddy.  I did very well and did 5k in 30.13.  My legs ached afterwards (but at least I ran it quicker than mummy can!)

All about my air hogs rollercopter!

In 2015 I wanted a really cool model for xmas,  a bit like a helicopter but it was called a SYMA X18 AIR HOGS ROLLERCOPTER.

At first, it didn’t seem to work so we watched loads of YouTube clips to find out how it worked. Then it started to fly!

One breakfast dad tried to fly it but it crash-landed into all his meddles. Because the propellers keep falling of we looked and looked for the propeller but it was nowhere!

We packed the RolerCopter away in its  box and put it on my bedroom shelf. Daddy ordered some propellers but they where the wrong ones!

Then he brought more but they were wrong but they still worked.

HERE IS A LITTE CLIP OF ME FLYING IT.

( SORRY! THE ROOM IS MESSY BECAUSE OF THE LOVELY PRESENTS WE’D JUST OPENED)

My Guinea Pigs

I have got two guinea pigs called Brambel and Smarty. Smarty is pale orange with a white patch on her head and nose. Brambel is black and white with a orange patch on her head.

Their favourite food is lettuce, coriander and parsley. Each day we give them a variety of food like lettuce, coriander, parsley, apple and carrot. Cutely, each day they squeak really  loudly for food. They come up to the fence to be fed from hand.

Smarty always steals food off of Brambel because she is still very scared when we pick her up, feed her or she hears loud sounds.

Here are some video clips of them exploring

The Magic Cloud

Chapter 1

Billy finds a magic cloud

One cold cloudy summer’s day, there lived a poor little 7 year old boy called Billy William the 4th. Sadly, Billy lived with his father in an old gloomy cottage because his mother died from the plague. Billy was very lonely because he had no brothers or sisters to play with. One day he was walking through Horsell Common to look for fire wood for his father when he saw a battered old newspaper under some twigs and leaves.  He bent to pick it up and saw the headline of “STOLEN NECKLACE” and a photograph of a pretty girl wearing it.  He suddenly got distracted by a cloud soaring across the sky.  He noticed that this cloud was no ordinary cloud… it was a magic cloud!

Chapter 2

Billy William the 4th catches the cloud

Billy decided to chase the cloud to see where it went, so he sprinted as fast as his little legs could carry him. He ran until the cloud stopped at a strange bush and shouted  “Guards open the secret bush gates!”  The cloud declared the guards to open the gates so loudly that the whole earth vibrated. Billy thought that there would be more clouds on the other side of the gates but there were not.  There were some deadly scorpions scuttling to greet the cloud back from its wild adventure and also some growling wolves. Billy could not believe the sight he saw of the shiny palace that had been revealed before him.  One of the wolves                                                                                                                             “Grrr hi Thomas, (for that was the name of the cloud) who is that HUMAN that you have brought back with you?

“Urh what human? I would never bring back any human,” Exclaimed Thomas                                                                          “Why do you have one behind you then?” replied the wolf                                                                                                              “Do I?”                                                                                                                                                                                                                  “YES!”                                                                                                                                                                                                          “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA guards GET ‘IM!” screamed Thomas

Chapter 3

Billy goes in the secret palace

The guards took Billy to an underground cellar in the palace which was basically a dungeon and was locked up in a cold gloomy place down there. Whenever Billy thought that they were going to let him out, they didn’t, so Billy felt very annoyed.

One hundred years later, Billy was still locked in the dungeon with the rats, mice, spiders and gooey piles of faeces and slimy urine. One night Billy heard a weird sound lurking round the room, which was very odd because he checked every part of the room he was in for other prisoners that the smelly guards had locked up. Luckily, he still had the torch his chubby father had given him in case it got dark. He turned his torch on and flashed it sharply round the room to see what the sound was. When he turned his torch off Billy heard some footsteps getting louder and… louder and… even louder!

“Oh no is it a Gruffalo!?”   Panicked Billy. It was not a brown, hungry, ugly, mighty Gruffalo. It was his father who had come to let him free. Billy was very pleased to see him!

Chapter 4

Hooray for Billy

Billy was very jubilant that night, because before he left he noticed that there was a sparkle under the floorboards so he whispered to his father

“Wait! Come and see this,” Billy could see a NECKLACE under the floor boards.

“This must be the stolen necklace from that girl the other day. It mentioned it in the paper last week!” exclaimed Billy.

“Billy you’re a genius. Go and show the police” ordered Billy’s father. Billy rushed to the police station to show them. They were most surprised to find a 7 year old boy to find this necklace.

“Do you know who stole the necklace? “Said the station officer.

“Yes it was the magic cloud.” Answered Billy.

“Thanks!” Shouted the police and did a little jig. That morning the whole village had a party Billy could live in the palace that the cloud and animals lived in because they were in prison, Billy and his father got very rich. They all lived happily ever after!

THE END

Inside the summerhouse

Before I bought my cute, little guinea pigs, I had to prepare the inside of their home.  Daddy and I had to put a special oil varnish all over the outside and floor to help protect the wood from rotting.IMG_3343_r A big job was making the fence to keep the guinea pigs in their area.  We weren’t getting a small hutch because they need lots of space to roam around and it’s also easier to clean out.  It is cruel to keep them in a cage, especially in winter when they can’t go outside on the grass.  The summerhouse is 10ft by 8ft and the piggies space is 3ft by 8ft so they have A LOT of room to popcorn in.

We have chosen to use fleece because sawdust can go in their eyes and is dusty so they can’t breathe.  Mummy got cheap fleeces from Primark and Ikea.  Granny gave me lots of old towels to go under the fleece.  Under the towels is newspaper.  Daddy made two pigloos and the lids are good because they come off so we can sweep inside easily.

My next blog post will be about getting my guinea pigs.  I will try and write it on Wednesday.

My new Summerhouse!

I have wanted guinea pigs since I was 4 and I  have been saving up Christmas, birthday and other money for years.  I am 8 in a few weeks so Mummy and Daddy said I can have little piggies for my birthday.

We decided to get a summerhouse so the piggies can have a lot of space to run around even in winter when they can’t go outside in a run.  The first job we had to do was prepare the ground by pulling up old paving slabs and levelling it all off for the cement.  The cement came on a lorry whilst I was at school so I didn’t see that bit.

The summer house was delivered on a rusty lorry.  It took 30 minutes to unload all the planks of wood and then another 40 minutes to carry it into the garden.

Daddy started building it himself plank by plank.  I made him a card to thank him because he spent 3 days building it for me.
